December in shorts

From now on I will post my travel blogs in English so that my English friends can also read my exciting experiences! :)

Wow, it's unbelievable, but it's already December! Which means for me that I am almost done with my internship, but also that it's almost time to go home :(. The past couple of days I have thought about it a lot, how I am feeling that my Down Under Adventure is almost over, and honestly, I don't want to go home yet. The summer has finally started, although I still sleep with my winter duvet, but I really don't want to go back to the cold Dutch weather. On the other hand, I would love to see my family and friends again. Why is it all so difficult. Any how, I will tell you guys where I have been up to.

After my last post, I haven't really done anything exciting. I have worked 6 days a week, for the past couple of weeks so on my Sunday I enjoyed doing nothing! :)

Nonetheless, I have met up with the interns from Sydney, which was really nice. We had a lovely dinner at an Italian restaurant at Lygon street, which is THE Italian street of Melbourne. I also showed them the pussums at the Carlton gardens, where I saw for the first time the biggest bads in my life. OMG I think they were about 40 cm big or so. IEll, after that we went to the rooftop bar Naked for Satan which was really nice. The same weekend I met up with a girl from SSRA, we had a nice lunch and walk around at the Botanic Gardens. I still find it amazing that something so beautiful is just in the middle of the city.

Next to the fact that it is finally getting warmer and that everything is nice and green, it is of course also Christmas time. A couple of weeks ago I went with Nat and Claire to a Christmas shop close to work. It was incredibly warm that day and the contrast was just so weird. Seing all the christmas decorations and hearing the carols whilst walking around in shorts. For the same reason I am not yet really feeling festive. But it might come later, anyway, yesterday we went into the city for lunch to have a look at the Myer windows (Myer is a kind of Bijenkorf). Instead of just having christmas decorations in the windows they have a complete story. So they have 5 windows and with moving elements and a voice over they are telling a story. People are even standing in lines to see the windows. So crazy. On the top floor they have a giftorium as they call it themselves. Basically they sell there everything that is related to christmas. Nutella jars with your own name, Christmas trees, decorations, toys etc. Although I am used to the fact that everything during Christmas time transforms completely, it is different over here. I can't really describe it why, but I like this new experience.

Tonight we are going to the Queen Victoria Summer Night market and I can't wait to go there. Next week we are going to a rooftop cinema to see the movie the Night before Christmas and on Friday we are going to Nat's place because she is having a movie night. Afterwards I will sleep over at Claire's, because the next day we are going to a waterpark.

I am looking so much forward to all these fun activities and I really will miss my Australian Family. I also can't believe that I am leaving in 2,5 weeks, OMG finally some time off and time to go and explore this beautiful country. Before I even know it I have to pick up my Fam from the Airport in Sydney.

I am just really excited and so grateful that I got the opportunity to come here.
